Treyarch and Raven software along with Beenox kicks the latest Call of Duty installment up a notch to a completely different arena of FPS. To begin with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer was revealed earlier on PS4. With iconic missions in the North Atlantic, Miami, Angola and the Ural mountains this years COD multiplayer is truly exceptional.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War release date
Activision announced the launch to be on November 13th. And the platforms are Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Initially set to develop by Sledgehammer, the ideas didn’t sync and Activision re-assigned the task to Treyarch.
Also it seems like the PS5 version will be available prior to the Xbox Series X version. A definite date isn’t set, the only wording for the PS5 given was Holiday of 2020. As we await in a mixed adventurous sensation let us sneak a peek at the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer
The multiplayer like we said comes out with a whole lot of new modes this time around. Maps around the globe such as Miami, Uzbekistan, Ural mountains are built for a wide scale of gameplay. The team format supports both 6v6 and 12v12.
An all new mode called Fireteam is introduced which supports up to 40 players. Also there are quite a few awesome old school upgrades. Remember how we create classes in the old Modern Warfare? Well it is re-implemented with a couple of major upgrades.
Field upgrades are a part of class loadouts and we can select one option for each class out of four possible configurations. There is option for 8 primary weapon attachments(rear grip, magazine, underbarrel, etc.), double grenade equipment, Lawbreaker and Perk Greed. This last one allows to utilize 2 perks from each perk type.
Additionally cross-platform play is supported and the weapons unlocked in cold war can also be used in warzone and vice versa.
Cold War Single player campaign
The campaign unfolds in the early 80’s. This is a direct sequel to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and all the familiar historical figures return to action. Unveil the action with Woods, Mason and Russell Adler are in pursuit of a Russian agent named Perseus. However Resnov is unseen yet. Additionally there is a whole new customizable character named Bell.
The storyline is based on actual real events of the cold war and the locations chosen are also similar. East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet KGB headquarters are a few of those. There are rumors that parts of the Korean war and Vietnam will also be included.
Storyline
The storyline is as follows. We already mentioned that the historical familiar faces are back in action. You along with the team will be chasing a real life Soviet union spy named Perseus( Sounds Greek huh?). This guy is said to have stolen nuclear secrets about 40 years back. Apparently if he’s active something big is gonna happen.
The old school feeling is still in the air with the outfits and actions. The storyline shifts smoothly from Black Ops 1 to Cold War without a trace of Black Ops 2 or 3. Developers mentioned the fact that the game paly was based on real events. And it is real as it gets.
The lead writer explained how they used recently de-classified, legitimate government documents to fill in the storyline. He also explains that the thrill and the mystery of Black Ops is further amplified as they mess with peoples heads.
The team utilizes every element they can to track down Perseus. This includes reliving memories of their experiences in the Vietnam war. It is player centric. As it is up to you to choose different paths from these memories and face the encounters. All your choices affect the ultimate ending.
There are many variations unlike any previous Black Ops game. There are 10 missions altogether scattered throughout the Globe. Nowhere Left to Run., Echoes of a Cold War , The Final Countdown are some of them.
Zombies Incoming!
As the developers say ” Cold war isn’t just an opportunity to open up a new chapter about the Zombies, but also a chance to elevate the usual experience”. And truthfully the zombie mode is a truly remarkable gameplay.
You are a part of a CIA backed international team led by Grigori Weaver. Another team backed up by the Soviets named Omega group is mixed in the action too. You are sent to investigate an incident in the facility. And that is when things start to go south.
This is the basic breakdown of the zombies play. Black Ops 1 Call of the Dead still remains the blueprint and this is a continuation. The ground based action to fight the zombies seemed overwhelming as they kept coming in. The good news is that the weapons you unlock can be used throughout any mode. No more starting with a pistol.
Definitely action-packed, takes the taken by surprise to a whole new level with the attacks. As the developers say “somethings like to remain undead” .
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War: Warzone
Warzone will keep going with a few major changes. Although it will be integrated around December. There is a whole new map dedicated just to the Warzone mode. It has hints of Alcatraz same as in COD mobile along with a few changes and a different name. Again Verdansk will be a one of the maps too.
Along with new weapons and vehicles there will be a hand in hand journey with the original Warzone. However more updates will be released around March next year.
